We worked with Forgeworks on the rear extension of this Victorian terrace, creating a space that feels intimate for two yet caters for family gatherings and partys. As the home is located on within a conservation area, sensitivity in design and build were paramount. The solution was to execute a modern intervention that complements the traditional through texture and quality.

Design-led architecture and materiality were key, and the result incorporates flexible dining bench seating, reading nook spaces and concealed storage all realised in a striking combination of charcoal brickwork, smoked oak woodwork and clean, contemporary joinery. A new lightwell, a corner window seat, and full-height sliding doors ensure plenty of natural light, as well as continuity well into the garden.
